aldwin's bday

HE1102 - Home Economics 2: Fundamentals of Cooking

Yesterday was Aldwin's birthday! Haha. So after my one-on-one tutorial with Dr. Kammen for my Politics in Southeast Asia module, I met Muriel for lunch and then prepared the food for the birthday celebration. We met at Kent Ridge Hall, went to his room and at the pantry to prepare the food! It's cooking time! Haha.

KRH Block D Pantry - the venue for the cooking class. Haha.

The coursepack. Haha. More like the ingredients for the dishes we were to cook for that day.

The lecturer (Muriel) and the student (Me!) Haha. Preparing to start! :)

Lesson 1: Cut the uber tough squash. It was real hard man. Very difficult to cut. Haha.

That is why I had to implore help from my professor. Hee hee.

Yay! Getting there.. getting there.. Haha :)

Finally got to cut them into small pieces (which at first looked like potato chips according to Muriel. LOL I got scolded because of that! =X)

More and more vegetables and meat to cut! Haha

Cutting the onion into very small cubes. Haha. Aldwin and I were competing for the onions. =X

This is not easy man. Haha.

Smile for the camera! :) (I actually look spastic but nevermind. Hee)

Practical 1: Cooking Pinakbet (a Filipino vegetable dish which I don't eat. Haha)

Me frying the stuff while Muriel gets ready the condiments needed.

Yeah! I look like I can cook eh? :P

Unfortunately, after we've added the sliced pork into the wok, we noticed that the stove does not seem to be working. So we had to call the technician and repair it for us. It took quite a while for the technician to arrive so for the meantime, we stopped and did some other stuff. Haha.

Break 1: Unripe mango eating

Yum. I like. Haha :P

Lesson 2: 'Marinating' the chicken

I had to add salt, pepper and the Maggi Magic Sarap flavouring to the chicken that we are to fry.

The new endorser for Maggi Magic Sarap. :P

Pose for the camera! Haha :)

Lesson 3: Cooking rice. Haha. We cooked a lot of rice which in the end, got a bit burnt. Haha. But most were still edible lah. Only a few got burnt. :)

Donna and Jordan came to collect the BBQ stuff. I think Muriel and I were doing the Spaghetti sauce. :)

With Rocky and Stacey. Haha. Preparing to take the cooked food down to PGP.

The Proud Chicken (don't ask me why, that is how it was named on TV. LOL)

Break 2: While waiting for the Proud Chicken to be cooked. Took quite a while. Haha.

At around 9pm, we finally finished cooking and then waited for the bus to PGP. We were feasting on the french fries. Haha.

Walking to the BBQ Pit at PGP :)

Finally got the party started! Happy birthday Aldwin! :)

Now the Tagalog version. Haha.

With Krizia, Muriel, Cassy and Jayson. :)

The party was fun. The food was great! Haha. Luckily the Spaghetti turned out nice. :D Haha. It was 7 hours worth of HE1102! It was tiring but fun. Haha. Cooking is actually fun, just that it is rather troublesome. :P

Anyway, today was spent slacking at home. I did nothing. Rawr. Again. Sigh.

I have changed my blog song for this month. Haha. I love this song.

No I won't stay
So I'm running away

s club

I was at NTU today. The place is really big. Haha.

I went to study at NTU's library and I must say, their library's pretty big. Haha. And then I met Anna. She had dinner and then we went to this Arts Design Media building and it is real nice. We sat at the grass area at the roof and chatted until it got dark. We then adjourned to her room where we watched Imelda and she passed some movies to watch. Yay! Haha

But last night was even more eventful. Haha. The 'clique' (I have been telling them that we should give a name to our group so it would be easier. Haha) met at Shin's house for a party! Haha. Thanks Shin for organising and doing all the preparations and decors! :)

Shin, myself, Ivan, Terence, Alicia Khong, Jasmeet, Naren and Manee had Canadian Pizza for dinner and then the drinking session started. Haha. At first, we prepared cocktail drinks as starters. We had White Lady and some other drink. Haha. After that, we had tequila shots and I had 2. :P We then started playing games (Indian poker followed by Seven Up game and then Blackjack) while we opened and drank Vodka, Jim Beam and Baileys :D We all drank until we were quite high and then started clubbing inside Shin's room. Haha. It was damn fun. I was really tipsy last night. I liked the feeling. :P

When we were all shagged, we just sat down and rested. I just lied down for a while and when I opened my eyes, it was already 6.30am. LOL. Everyone (except for Ivan and Alicia who went home) stayed over and were just lying around her room. Haha. Some of them left at around 8.30am while I stayed back a while more and left at 12nn to go to NTU. :)

That was a night to remember man! Haha

This photo was taken using Christian's phone when I was drinking Waterfall. Notice the burning flames? Haha. Cool eh? :P

Reality check. I have Chinese Midterms on Week 8. Rawr. Scrapbook and essay to do. Webcast lectures to attend. Sigh.

What do you do when you feel all alone?

bye adrian

I went to send Adrian off today. Sigh. He left for Australia this morning. Will miss him man. :(

I was at Terminal 3 to send him off and boy, the place is damn nice! Haha. Photos ahead! :) I know I am damn slow but yeah. It was my first time at T3. Haha. :P

The 'mall' inside T3

The Departure area

This is at the arrival area I think. It is damn spacious. Haha.

Check-in counters

Somewhere inside T3 (I forgot where already. Haha)

I think the architecture is just great and amazing

I do not think I would get to see such things in the Philippines =X

This T3 was constructed later than the T3 in the Philippines and until now, the T3 in Manila has not been in operation yet. It is just left rotting there. =X

I just think that the whole Terminal is really nice. T1 and T2 are already nice. This one's much nicer. Haha.

Last night, I went clubbing (again) with Shin at The Butterfactory. There was some event where we got free tickets so yeah. I went. Haha. It was not as fun as Zouk Phuture but it was still ok. Haha. We saw quite a number of celebrities at The Butterfactory like VJ Utt, Mark Zee (one Eye for a Guy guy), one of the Thai contestants at the Amazing Race Asia Season 2, and one Mediacorp artiste who starts in Chinese Shows. I do not know his name. Haha.

After that, I had breakfast at McDonald's at Liang Court and then waited for the first train to the airport. It was quite fun walking by the river side when the side walk is empty and the place is quiet. Haha. Something you do not get to do often. :)

Shin and I at Zouk last week. Haha.

Midterm break is here! Yay! Haha

Somebody owns you now

crane crash

A crane from the construction of the NUS Alumni building/complex collapsed at around 2.10pm this afternoon. It was just a normal day which turned out to be one of the scariest and most memorable ones (not in a good way actually) that I will have.

Muriel and I just had our Chinese lecture at Arts Faculty and after having lunch at the Arts Canteen, we went to the Biz bus stop to wait for the bus to take us to PGP as Muriel wanted to finish her Geography project. When the bus finally arrived, we started queuing up to board.

While the people were alighting, we suddenly heard some noise coming from the construction area. It was actually the sound of metals banging or hitting each other. Quite hard to explain actually. But since it was a construction area anyway, I disregarded it. However, I saw everyone turning to look at the direction of the construction site. To our horror, we saw the 60m huge crane collapsing towards our direction. I guess we were all in shock. I guess I myself was dumbfounded that all I could do was move towards the bus, try to 'protect' Muriel and look at where the crane was falling. I was praying hard not for it to fall on us nor at the bus stop. I saw how it collapsed and hit the tree beside the bus stop. Fortunately, we were safe. None of the people from the bus stop or the bus were injured. Thank God. Aside from the dust when the crane hit the ground, nothing else bad happened to us. We then boarded the bus and life went on as usual.

Muriel and I were discussing how lucky we were and that it was actually a real life and death situation. What if we were hit? What could have happened to us? Thank God we are still alive and well. My deepest condolences to the family and friends of the 3 workers who died due to the accident.

And to Muriel, who wrote something nice about me in her blog (Hee hee), I believe that it is always a guy's responsibility to take care of whoever he is with. So yeah. No worries about it. :)

This event really does show how unpredictable life is. So we must live it to the fullest and be thankful for each and every new day when we wake up alive and well each morning. Carpe diem.

The bus stop was just a few meters away from where the crane collapsed. We were damn lucky.

What a day.

And yes, we had our first Chinese quiz. Not bad I think. Haha. :)

By the way, special mention goes to http://blurblur.blogspot.com for the photos. I just grabbed it from there. Haha.

These are the moments
I thank God that I'm alive

camwhoring

CAMWHORING WITH SHIN DURING PHARMACY PRACTICE LECTURE USING MY LAPTOP CAMERA (Apologies for the poor quality. Haha)

Smile! :P

Oooh. =X

Biggest smile you can ever make. Haha. :D

We're supposed to be thinking. But I think we just look like we're looking at something from above. Haha.

This is what we do during boring Pharmacy Practice lectures. Haha.

Coz I've seen the world from down there
And it wasn't a pretty sight

CA =X

The past few days have been rather tiring.

Saturday was meeting with the SciFCG Comm, Novena at Novena Church, Dinner at Cafe Cartel Plaza Singapura and then pubbing at Timbre. Hee hee. After that, I met Shin to go clubbing at Zouk. :P

We were at Phuture and I literally danced the night away. Dancing non-stop (99% of the time I was on the dance floor) from 11pm until 4am. Haha. It was damn fun. The music was great. I was just irritated by the number of people on the dance floor who were just literally standing there. I do not know for what. They are just taking space. Rawr.

I knocked out during the day and then at night, I went to watch the NUS Choir concert at UCC. Not bad. Haha. Supper-ed with some of my Filipino friends at PGP SuperSnacks and then went home.

The week is just plain preparing for the Physiology CA Test that I would be having in a few hours time. God bless me. Haha. I am not very prepared but nevermind. Sigh.

Until next time. :)

I'd rather

Saturday, February 16, 2008

vday, etc.

Belated Happy Valentine's Day to everyone. Haha. Real late, I know. But nevermind. Haha.

I did not sleep the night before V Day. I was translating a video and I only managed to finish it at around 5am. Since I have a tutorial at 8am, I thought it would be wise not to sleep anymore because if I do, I think I will just spend the whole day sleeping at home. Haha. And it was Valentine's Day so I wanted to be in school.

After all the gift giving or flowering giving, I felt like a walking zombie. Haha. Actually, I was quite surprised that even after being awake for more than 24 hours, I was still alive. Only occasional falling asleep during lecture but nevertheless, I was awake and thinking quite clearly until my last lecture. Haha.

The moment I reached home, I knocked out. Haha. I slept at around 8pm and woke up only around 9am. I had to force myself to wake up because I have an appointment with my lecturer which was only cancelled in the end. Haha. But Chinese lessons were fun! :)

I have got my chinese name already. Luo2 men2. Haha.

Anyway, I went out with Adrian, Christian, Pb, Jerrold and Jovan last night. It was a 'farewell' outing for Adrian who is flying off to Australia next Sunday. Sad. Sigh. Anyway, we had dinner at Waraku Restaurant at Starhub Centre and then after dinner, we went to The Balcony at Hereen to chill out. Haha. It was cool. I had Waterfall and Harlem Mugger but sigh. No effect. Dang. My alcohol tolerance is really quite high eh? Haha.

Alright, I have to go. Catch up with you guys again next time.

Bye!

Another busy weekend

caw, bahay kubo & cny

Taken during the CAW Rally briefing. Haha.

Today was such a day. I was early for my LSM Lecture because I had to print a copy of the Lab Report which I was doing suring the lecture. Hee hee. Anyway, the practical proved to be very very hilarious especially with Shin as my lab partner. We're just plain dumb I think. And I think the Teaching Assistants think so too. LOL. Imagine changing the pipettor twice and wondering why the weight of the basin with water does not change (because it was placed on top of the electronic balance cover =X). Sigh. Haha. 2 more lab sessions. Tuesday afternoons will never be the same again. :P

After which I went over to the Central Library to print out or photocopy the readings for SSA2207 this week. I am so glad I got all the readings. Whether I would get to read them, that's another question altogether. Haha.

Anyway, more backdated photos coming up! :)

Mugging with Muriel at Central Library. Haha.

WARNING!!! THE MOST GAY OF ALL GAY PHOTOS I HAVE TAKEN. SPECIAL THANKS TO MURIEL. HUH!!! LOL

Oh My God. I look like a freaking girl lah. Haha. (Worse than the one with the black hood) =X Things that we do when we are bored from mugging. LOL. I wonder what is left with my dignity. HAHAHAHA *hears 'mei you liao' in the background*

After we watched 'Bahay Kubo' a Filipino movie which premiered in Singapore on the 3rd of February. Tickets were like $12. Expensive sia. =X

Muriel, Anna, Myself and Aldwin.

Outside Golden Village at Great World City.

On the escalator.

More camwhoring. Haha.

Somewhere near the Chinese New Year decorations. Haha. Kind of failed actually. Haha.

Better but quite blur. =X

With Anna and Muriel on the cab. Muriel and I had to take a taxi to CJC for the CAW(Catholic Awareness Week) Rally. We were supposed to usher and be carpark attendants. LOL

Inside CJC Performing Arts Centre. :)

With Muriel. :)

One more time. Haha. :P

This was taken after we went to the house of Donna's ex-boss on the 3rd day of Chinese New Year. Why do we look tanner in this photo? Haha

Muriel, Roman and Donna :)

Ok. I guess that is enough humiliation for now. Haha. I am still waiting for the outings with the 'Drinking Clique' photos. :)

Good night world! :)

You can be my motivation

bestfriends

School starts again today. Sigh. If only the holiday can be extended. =X

Damn. My housemate's making so much noise again. What the. It's freaking 2 am in the morning! Haha. Why the hell is he singing with his out of tune voice at this godly hour. Sigh. And cheesy Westlife songs some more. Talk about making noise. Rawr.

Anyway, just wanted to post the photos I grabbed from Ivan's blog. Hee hee. Photos taken when I was at their house on Friday.

Bored while waiting to leave for Raffles Town Club. (Not that I had dinner there. They did. Haha)

Best of friends. :)

Don't stop the clumsy buttercup.

CNY

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!! :)

Gong xi fa cai! Xin nian kuai le! :)

The past few days have been real great. Bai nian-ing at Shin's house and partying at S Club on Thursday! Haha. (I want the photos!!!) The next day was lunch at Orchard and bai nianing at Ivan's house. Was great seeing you again. Your mom's damn nice Ivan and your relatives too! Haha.

Today was a visit to Donna's ex-colleague's house. It was damn fun. Haha. Although we pretty much did not know the people there, it was real enjoyable playing Blackjack and gambling with them (using Mrs. Mah's coins. LOL). Haha. Mrs. Mah was really really nice. And Mr. Mah too! Haha.

This CNY Holidays seems to be the best I have had so far. I love the hong baos. Hee hee. Who doesn't? :P Now my school work is waiting to be done. Hmm.

Baby I must say your aura is incredible

more pics

This entry is just another photo update of last week's events. Hmm. I am still waiting for the Wala Wala outing photos, 'Bahay Kubo' movie pictures last Saturday, CAW Rally photos last Sunday and the Steamboat outing last night. Haha. I want to update with photos. Hee hee.

Anyway, enjoy. Haha. Thanks to Aldwin and Aldo for the photos! :)

Our flag.

The booth exhibit.

With Aldwin, Jason, Gail and Muriel.

Nice eh? :P

Explaining some stuff to my classmates! Haha. I found them lurking around so I dragged them onto our booth. LOL

Thinking of how to answer Gaya's question. Haha. (Honestly, I was roughly crapping about my explanations. =X)

I called Terence a.k.a. Uncle T, Ah Ng, Abang Terence (Handphone aku mana siol? LOL) and Alicia (somewhere behind) to come down and visit our booth. And they did! :)

Me explaining some things again. Haha.

I was trying to explore Photoshop. I started playing with some photos. Yeah.

I think my blog song rocks big time. Haha.

I found all I've waited for...

new song again

More of the camwhoring photos. Haha.

New song for the month. I Could Not Ask For More by Edwin McCain :)

Muriel and I attended the Catholic Awareness Week Rally at CJC Performing Arts Centre yesterday. It was such an experience. I had fun singing and dancing. Haha :P

This video is from a Korean TV Show and it showcases one amazing girl from the Philippines and her singing prowess. She's really good. Haha. Enjoy! :)

The dressing room looks real nice. :)

But of course, we look much better. HAHA. :P

ISN

As I mentioned in the previous post, we had the International Students' Night 2008 - Arc En Ciel (Rainbow) at the University Cultural Centre last Friday, 1 February 2008. We were actually inside the UCC from 10am until around 11pm. =X

There were many problems with the organising committee which I would not want to waste time writing on because it will just make my blood boil. Haha. Anyway, it is over and I could not be much happier. :)

Here are some photos taken during that day.

Cam whoring with Donna and Muriel again. Haha.

The mirrors and the dressing room itself is real nice. :)

Being spastic while getting bored waiting for our turn to rehearse on stage. Haha.

And so the vain me started taking photos of myself. Hee hee.

A closer look. Haha. I love the lights at the sides of the mirrors! They look very professional. :)

Got bored of waiting. I went outside to use my phone because there is no reception inside the dressing room. Haha. Or was I playing tennis on my phone when this was taken? Hmm. :P

Look who's sleeping! HAHAHA

The rest playing bridge the whole day! Haha. All the girls' costumes were made and sewn by us! Cool right? :) Thanks Muriel!!! Haha

Me camwhoring while wearing our traditional costume, the Barong Tagalog. :)

With Muriel

Using the mirrors again. Quite nice but hard to hold the camera. Haha.

Now with Donna! Haha :)

The 3 of us. :) (Why is it always us by the way? LOL)

Now that the concert is over, I must do my best to catch up with my studies. It is time for me to focus. Rag would be coming soon. Hmm. Nevertheless, I must work hard from now on. Keep that scholarship. Haha. :)

These are the moments I thank God that I'm alive
These are the moments I'll remember all my life

update

Finally. International Students' Night 2008 is over! Haha. Although I am really tired, I am happy. Happy that we did a good job. Happy that it is over. :)

Come to think of it, I was pretty much caught up with it more than anything else so I do not know what else to talk about. LOL.

Ok, maybe something interesting that happened on Thursday. I woke up late and I skipped 2 of my morning lectures. Darn. Haha. Anyway, I was contemplating whether or not to attend my SS lecture at 2pm. Firstly, we need to hand in a scrapbook write up. It is an article commentary which I have not finished yet. Hee hee. So I was thinking of coming up with an excuse but then, I thought that if I do not come down, I would miss a lot. This is mainly due to the fact that the lecturer does not want to provide us with notes and there is no webcast for this module. So, no choice, I rushed my assignment and by the time I finished, I am running late for my lecture so I took a cab to school. :(

I was only a few minutes late. Once he was done asking what is in the news (he does that each week as we are expected to read the newspaper), he then said that he would not wait until the end of the lecture to collect the scrapook entries. I was scared because I have not printed mine. I have finished it but not printed out yet. Luckily, he just asked us to pass them to one side. So I did not pass mine because basically, I have nothing. I thought I would just ask him where his pigeon hole is so I can pass it to him after the lecture once I already printed it out. However, he then said, 'Let's find out what some of your friends wrote about. Can we have someone from the back (I was sitting at the last row)? The Pharmacy student (Shit. He knows I am from Pharmacy because we did talk to him about the clashes in our LSM Practicals and his tutorials =X) wearing yellow (I was wearing a bright yellow tee shirt) sitting at the back? What is your article about?' SHIT. Haha. Of all people. Why me??? Since I had no choice, I had to talk about my entry. Haha. Not that I was not ready. I just did not have it printed out. So after my short shot at fame/shame (that I wish I did not have), the lesson went on as per normal. After the lecture, I talked to the lecturer and asked for his pigeon hole. I told him that I have not submitted mine as I have not printed it. He then had the why-did-you-not-hand-it-in kind of face. Haha. Fortunately, Dr Kammen is really nice and I promised him that I would hand it in that day. And I did. :)

Oh yeah. We did another Dispensing practical this week (Wednesday). It was more fun than the previous week's but it is more troublesome. Haha. I did not know it is that frustrating to put powder inside tiny capsules. But I found it really fun! Haha :)

WARNING: A LOT OF CAMWHORING PHOTOS AHEAD! Taken when 3 bored Filipinos were waiting for their turn to rehearse. (Let the pictures do the talking)
